On Friday, October 4, 2019, the Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV) team held an on-site blessing near KS-18. The blessing was held to express their thanks and appreciation, as well as offer prayers of safety for everyone on-site and in our surrounding community. It was directed toward the entire project, including the ongoing work and upcoming drilling for the new well.
Approximately 60 employees, contractors and residents were present. After Plant Manager Jordan Hara welcomed and thanked everyone for participating, Pastor Jaewin Gonsalves from New Hope Puna and Father John Molina from Sacred Heart Church in Pahoa presided over the blessings. It was a hot sunny day with very few clouds in the sky. Toward the conclusion of Father Molina’s prayer, Father began sprinkling Holy Water to people near him and toward the KS-18 well. Immediately after Father Molina stopped sprinkling Holy Water, a brief, but very refreshing, sprinkling of rain from the heavens doused everyone – a favorable sign according to our entire team.
